Homemade Bread

Ingredients:
·         1 tbsp active dry yeast
·         ¼ tsp salt
·         1 tbsp sugar
·         5 ½ cups all purpose flour
·         2 cups warm water
·         ½ tbsp butter
(You can also use oil or margarine)
Preparation:
In a large bowl, mix the yeast with the warm water and stir in sugar until dissolved. Add the salt and the flour, one cup at a time. Add butter and knead bread for about 5-10 minutes. Place bread in a large bowl sprayed with olive oil spray and turn to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and place in (inactive/not hot) oven to rise for one hour, or until dough has doubled in size. Shape into loaves and place in 2 greased pans. Let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until it has risen about 1 inch above pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or until loaf sounds hollow. Remove from pans and brush top with butter.
